It's with a big 'holy cow' that I look at my spreadsheet for Phase 1 of this project (which was designed to move all links/files/other stuff from the trunked and conventional levels of the database) and realize that we're almost done with that phase. Only a few states left to go.
In addition I have noticed a few folks putting in some time into getting the next phase started - whether they knew it or not
It would be foolish to reject such momentum, so here's the official announcement...
Phase 2 of the Collaboration project begins NOW.
This phase concentrates on the state level, and examines the State Agencies and Areawide Frequencies pulldowns found there. The same rules apply here - Generally speaking, if there are any files, links or other non
web-service related stuff to be found there, it's a candidate for migration. Anything that's a news item, description or other descriptive text, maps and so forth will stay put. This is critical - be sure to delete the data from the database (if you are an admin) or submit a ticket to the DBAs once the copy is complete.
I am pretty sure that Kentucky is already done, and I know several individuals have worked on Texas, Illinois, Missouri and I believe Ontario as well. Like Phase 1, this project will be tracked on a spreadsheet, so if you have already completed Phase 2, please let me know ASAP (either via email or a private msg) so it can be tracked.
Hopefully this phase will go much faster than phase 1, as in many cases, there's far less to check. I'm sure that places that are popular tourist destinations, such as Florida and California, will have more to check than say Kansas or Nebraska. Nevertheless, each State and Canadian Province will need to be checked.
When you report your progress, if you are working on Phase 2 for your state/province, please make sure you say this. As always, if you have any questions please email or
pmail me.
