Default Problem with 'Upload a new version of this file' in the wiki

I’m having trouble uploading a new version of a file to the wiki. This is the file. I uploaded a new version, but the wiki system is still displaying the old version. So I uploaded it again and then the second newest thumbnail shows the newer image but the current one doesn’t. So I tried to revert to that second newest one, but the system still displays the older version. I’ve uploaded new versions many times in the past and never ran into this issue. I've cleared my cache and tried another browser.

The one I want displayed is this one with two red counties at the northeast part of the state.

Any ideas? Is the wiki having a hiccup?

Whatever the issue was, it fixed itself. It's now showing the image I uploaded and not the old version.

Always remember to clear your cache from time to time- that's likely why you're seeing the old image (it happened to me a lot before I realized this)

Sometimes just doing a refresh will do the trick...Mike

Thanks Mike. Normally I have to refresh but even clearing the cache wouldn't work yesterday. It seemed the wiki wasn't purging it's own cache. I uploaded a new version multiple times yesterday and it was always showing the correct new version as the secondly most recently updated file and not the most recently updated file. Very strange.

You can disable wiki caching for your account - go to 'MY PREFERENCES' under your ID and go down perhaps 2/3 of the way. My account is set up this way

I have found that it will slow you down somewhat (the wiki uses its own cache before your browser's - that's part of the reason why it reacts quickly), but it increases the accuracy of what you see when you upload. Then when you clear your browser cache, you should see the new image.

There's always a trade off...Mike

Also, keep in mind that the RR Wiki, along with most of the site, is cached by CloudFlare. I've had some issues with CloudFlare recently specifically with regard to files stored in the Wiki. It sometimes takes a lot of patience to see that an editing or file manipulation action has actually had the desired result.

Thank you both. I learned a lot. Mostly, I just need to be more patient with my updates
