Scanners don't tend to handle simulcasting on P25 very well. Unicast P25 audio is generally decoded pretty well by most scanners, so WISCOM is just going to sound better.
Colorado's DTRS is 800 MHz w/o (much) simulcasting and they sound great. ARMER and SC21 usually sound bad, really just tolerable most of the time. Of course, the gear that the users use is better so they don't hear it as poorly as scanner users will.
VHF helps too - but it's not the whole story.

Good point, I have heard before that simulcast impacts scanners. I wonder if VHF scanner listeners on the Washington county system notice a difference between that simulcast county system and WISCOM sites?
Simulcasting is nice from the governance side as you don't have to fight as hard to get frequencies since all sites share. On the other hand its more expensive to add capacity since a channel upgrade needs to go on all sites in the simulcast.
My experience also shows 800 provides better in building penetration. Simulcast seems to be better too since you are getting penetration in a building from multiple angles.

Check the DB for numerous WISCOM updates in the next day or two. I believe a bulk, if not all, of the sites that have a home are functional now, so there should be 70+ sites on the air.

Just popped that one into my scanner to see what happens, question, from what site are ya hearing that one from, is it in the southern end of WI or is it being pushed out statewide? Thanx! N9NRA

I believe it's a beta test of an interface between WISCOM and local systems. It should be heard sporadically around the (area? state?) as some of the system radios affiliate to that talkgroup, thereby pulling that talkgroup to a site near you

The 14010 Talk-group is broadcasting the counties Sheriff Main and the County-wide PD Dispatch, This is coming off of the Rubicon tower for me I haven't been out farther to see if it is statewide, but since they are set up with more then one channel on it it seems to be only a test. That Talkgroup could be future for Sheriff Main though.

Heard the 14010 talkgroup off the Kenosha tower this afternoon. This was the first time I've personally caught traffic off that tower and it's signal was excellent listening from Muskego.

From what everybody has been seeing/hearing, what is the actual time table this will be rolled out in? Over in Waupaca county they are just switching sheriff1 to digital and sometime after that the switch to narrowband for the rest of the departments.
Since it took the county this many years to finally make just one department's leap to digital, just wondering how far off another changeover will happen.

From what I understand that's been pushed back to September or thereabouts.

Site 67 on the air, 139.4125 MHz. Possibly Red Cliff.

Site 67 was on the air Friday evening/night, but now this morning/today it's not there.
Also FYI, Meteor is using 150.92 for the control channel right now. It's not listed in the database as a CC so I'm guessing it's only temporary.

What exactly is this post supposed to mean? The system very much exists in physical form. I'd love to see what "info" you have that isn't already published.
