Mukwonago Police Department/800 MHZ

Does anyone know if Mukwonago PD will ever go to 800 MHZ Waukesha Co. Trunked Radio System? I know when WCC opened they said they would eventually go to the consolidated dispatch center but nothing has happened. The only departments that aren't on the Waukesha Co. TRS is the Village and Town of Mukwonago and Waukesha Co. Jail. All fire departments are on the TRS.

Join WCC? No, they won't. The current PD administration never considered joining WCC and has no intentions of doing so in the future. The Village board considered it, but was shown by the PD that retaining their own radio system and dispatchers was of more benefit to the Village. Could the board change it's mind some day? Sure. However, it does not appear that day will come any time soon.

The Village's VHF radio equipment is more than adequate for their needs and they are currently in the midst of equipment repair/replacement to meet the narrowband mandate and standardize equipment. All of the PD's squads currently have encryption on-board and have recently been keyloaded again. The PD's repeater will pass encryption, making it seamless for the officers to have a secure conversation when needed.

The PD is allocated a talkgroup on WCTRS but it is not being used at this time. The fire department is on the WCTRS for operations, but is paged via the existing VHF infrastructure and they retained all VHF gear for backup use.
