Wednesday afternoon (5-17), I was hearing California Highway Patrol "Amber 2" Base (42.0800, 103.5) out of Redwood City (Golden Gate).
Living near Phoenix, I had hoped that I would someday hear some skip from the CHP, but I figured that it would have to be from northern California, since areas in the southern part of the state would be too close.
I heard this on a GRE PSR-500, with the stock antenna. (At first, I had the RS 800 MHz antenna attached, but when the squelch kept breaking, I switched antennas.)
I did some more searching through 42 MHz specifically, as well as the lowband public safety range generally, but that was the only active frequency I caught.
