Plane plotter is a good program. A little complicated in the beginning getting all the settings how you like, but after that it's easy.

I would suspect that adding the raw decoding of the ADSB signal would push PlanePlotter over the edge as far as its ability to run on most machines. Wouldn't hurt to ask.
I want to try using an RTL for ACARS, though. That would be cool!

I know for a fact you can use the rtlsdr with acarsd cause i used to run it from the line out of my pro-136 to acarsd without issues and with sdrsharp you can pipe the audio out into another apps input

Yeah. I use my RTL with Unitrunker and DSD an they work very well. Especially for the price.

I emailed the author of the app. If it does work with planeplotter we have a much much cheaper adsb decoder/receiver. I will let you all know as soon as i get a reply.

Kma goto my site and you will see what we are talking about. Its really really good for $22.00

here is the reply
Later.....

I should have added that I believe there is third party software
about that will take the signal from the receiver and turn it into a
data stream that PP can process.

Unfortunately, I have no first hand knowledge of this option.

Hi Mike,

PlanePlotter handles the output of just about every 1090MHz receiver
but there is an assumption that the pulse modulation has been turned
into a binary stream. Unfortunately, a straight SDR does not perform
that demodulation.

You can also buy a microadsb receiver. I think they are around $110. I'll find a link if your interested.

I had one. Worked great.

If you buy PlanePlotter you will be able to see shared data .

Not sure where you are in the US , but here are some grabs of our Multilateration tests over Colorado
These are Mode S a/c but not full ADS B, so do not send their location.

To help with the RTL devices we need to know what sw is being used to interface between the SDR and PP

Hey Mike,

I've been using winsend2 (from KJM, author of acarsd) - it does ACARS and ADS-B. It's got it's flaws but it's functional. Check out libhomeradar.org.

I've been using gr-air-modes on a ubuntu VM, then pointing winsend2, SBSPlotter, VirtualRadar, and a couple of apps to feed a couple of sites (one feeds libhomeradar and it's atlas app, the other one feeds live-mode-s.info).

All using my $20 usb stick. ;)

Awesome.. so Winsend will take the 1090mhz raw adsb signal from sdrsharp and and turn it into something legible? From Windsend we can take that data and foward it to the other apps?

Tell me if have this wrong please.

Mike
