*Re: EricCottrell =
If you would be so kind as to update the Wiki Reference
(as you did with my June 2018 Boston Center post found here:
https://forums.radioreference.com/a...ne-2018-boston-artcc-hi-lo-sector-charts.html ),
I'm sure many would appreciate it. Thank you again for your help.
This is public information available via the FAA NOTAMS website.

Once again Eric, "Thank You". You're a good guy.

I'm sorry to keep asking you to do, what I should be able to do for myself. I would if I had the smarts. Since I don't, I'm glad I can rely on you to help. Which is what I believe the intent of this website is; to help one another by sharing our knowledge to create and maintain a "Radio Reference". Good job, well done. Links below:

Hello Lar (nyplumma). That's a great reference for KZNY. I have been looking for the same thing for KZDC. Searched the FAA NOTAM site but nothing came up for them. Have they just not changed in a LONG time so no needed NOTAMS or is there a trick for searching. Thanks in advance.

Hi Eugene,
You're correct that Washington Center (ZDC) "does not" publish their sector boundary charts via the NOTAMS website, either deliberately or because they simply don't have the time and resources to devote to it. While this is public information, it's dissemination is discretionary to each Center.

However, it's been my experience if you write the ARTCC in question, are polite and get the verbiage correct (be clear and specific about what you're requesting, ie; a "sector chart" versus a "sectional chart" are two very different things), and provide a self addressed stamped envelope, chances are you'll get what you're after. Be polite and be patient. They may not even "see the envelope" for two weeks as they are just so busy and get so many requests for the same information.

Let me preface the following by saying I am not an expert on the subject. The following has been "my experience" and is based solely on opinion. Please take it for what it's worth....

If I were to guess, I'd say Boston & New York publishes their sector charts via the NOTAM website because of the sheer volume of requests they get each year. That coupled with the reduction in staff due to the reallocation of budget funds. Those who "were available" to fulfill public requests for information on an individual basis are now either gone or that responsibility has been delegated to someone else who already has more to do than is humanly possible by one person. Thus, it's a better use of resources to simply publish the information "once" in one place (a NOTAM) rather than doing it multiple times on an individual basis, ie; the sticky or pinned item method.

Last I inquired, Boston Center no longer employs a cartographer (as an individual job description) and those duties (chart making) were delegated to another member of the team. Keep in mind, it's "always" about the money. Budget reductions or reallocation of funds usually means an equal number of service reductions. But they can't do that. Because their work load (air traffic) is increasing, not decreasing. This requires them to provide the same (or more) services with less resources. In addition to the amount of increased work, more importantly is the stress level of the job, which usually burns out even the most gifted. These are incredibly dedicated people who do more with less, every day and do it flawlessly without us ever noticing it.

Starting in the early 80s, I would write (yes, pencil & paper) to Boston Center to request a current High Altitude and Low Altitude Sector Chart (with frequencies) and a RCAG Site Sheet (RCAG = Remote Communications Air/Ground). Over the last 35 years (upon written request) they have provided this information, as has New York Center, Washington Center and Cleveland Center. So now, rather than answering my request individually (the same request they probably get hundreds of times per year), they put the info up as a NOTAM. First Boston and then New York followed. Hopefully next we'll see Washington & Cleveland Center do the same. I also read the same request from someone about Chicago ARTCC.

It's truly amazing how this multiple level cake of airspace in the sky, functions. These ARTCCs do their job without anyone ever noticing on the ground below, what's really going on above their heads. The only time anyone "does notice" is when something goes wrong. Which thankfully, due to their professionalism, their dedication, wit and nerve, is a very rare occurrence. These people provide invaluable service, all the while keeping us safe and without us ever noticing what they accomplish. They deserve our respect and admiration. They certainly have mine and I'm thankful I no longer have to bother them with my unimportant requests in the mail. Because I know they have something more important to do. Now I just watch for the NOTAM.

FAA NOTAMS (Notice To Airmen) search (use the "Z" three letter identifier to search with).
Attachments (like sector boundary charts if published) are usually listed at the very bottom:

I found updated Sector information at the FAA site for New York and Boston, but not Cleveland or any of the nearby TRACONs (A90, N90, Y90).

Thanks Lar for your detailed answer. I had not thought of writing a letter and ask for "SECTOR Charts" I am a Private Pilot and quite frankly did not know they existed. I shall take your advice and do just as you suggested. If they indeed do write back I will post and try to update the Wiki (although I, like you, may have just enough technical savy to screw it up so may be best left to others). Thanks again. I actually wanted to b an Air Traffic Controller when I graduated High School but I went in something less stressful....being a Paramedic :)

The ZNY chart shows Yardley (ARD) sector as Low. It used to be Low/High.

Evidently there is a high altitude overlay on ARD using 125.450 MHz.
