I an primarily a GE Ma/Com guy so please bear with me through a couple of simple questions.

I have a bunch of Saber I Securenet radios, some have more than two contacts on the bottom of the radio for power. What are they for? Do I need a special battery?

I know on GE Stuff there is an extra contact that gives power all the time because the encryption key in volatile.

Is there a purpose built tool to take these radios apart?

Thanks in advance

The older radios had a third terminal and I think it was for a thermal sensor in the battery.
I have never seen a 3 terminal saber battery and the regular ones work just fine.

Motorola does sell a spanner bit for some ridiculous amount of money. But, you can find bits or drivers for the two prong security type screws that work fine. The one I have works with the screws often found in correctional facilities with two small holes in each side instead of a phillips or slot.
