Looks like you got good height on it! I have never used a j-pole, my first and only outdoor antenna has been the Diamond X50. Checked into a net with just 5 watts to a repeater about 70 miles away from my QTH once with it, so it has worked great for me so far.

I'm surprised that a 220 MHz antenna is so broad-banded! Unless you are using it on 220 MHz machines...

Yeah,the J-Pole is a pretty good starter antenna good for the repeaters close by but not for Vhf/Uhf Long Haul and Dx'ing good luck on the antenna.............

I've actually had better luck with 2m or 440 ground planes than with jpoles.
My buddy gave me a hustler 220 with a ground plane and I just put it up today seems to be working just as good or better I haven't really got to test it too much though

The coax should be fastened to the pole near the antenna to remove the strain on the PL259 connector.
