M2 HO LOOP antenna
That is a VERY good antenna if installed (tuned) properly. I just mounted one to my truck for ssb band use and works quite well. There are however a few things that should be kep5 in mind, M2 wants to sell you a metal antenna mount (within the radiation field) that I did not, I used a 3/4 inch pvc cap for the mount, and set it on a 5 foot piece of pvc . While tuning, 144.0 thru 144.3 was 1.1:1 however climbes quickly above that. It can be used vertically but at 145.0 and above it climbed to 3.0 and beyond. This is not suprising though for it's design.
As forradios, there are no inexpensive ones, I use the yeasu 857, however the Icom 910H would have been preferred. Summer is coming and with propagation things should pick up dramatically on 2 meter ssb. In the pasr several months with that antenna, I have found activity at 144.2 thru 144.3. Here in Indiana. The price of those have gone up again, I have about $100.00 invested excluding coax in my system.
They work much better with elevation, (fixed station) and are worth the trouble setting it up. Have fun, '73 kc9gld Harley Lebanon Indiana EN60SB
