Default Alliance Rotor Help (Please)

While cleaning out some old junk from under my house,
I came across an old Alliance Tenna Rotor (possibly) T-45. It's 5 wire.
It belonged to my grandfather years ago before I moved
in. I do not have the controller but I do remember the controller
he had was the one with the N E S W N lettering on the face and the
long white button on the top of the unit. I just have the rotor itself.

Is there a way to test this rotor by feeding it 24vac?
I just want to test the unit to see if it works. If it does
then I'll go on my pilgrimage to find a controller.

According to the service manual (https://www.manualslib.com/manual/10...ml#manual)your rotor uses the T-10 control.. Found one here Alliance T-10 Tenna Rotor Antenna Rotator HAM AMATEUR TV CB FM Bakelite Box VTG | eBay

Might want to download the service manual, and do a little maintenance on the rotor before you hook it up.. Clean it up and re-grease the gears at least.

I saw the post for the controller. Only $21.00 +/- but I figured why spend $20
if the rotor itself is dead. I'm mainly looking for a way to hook up a small AC
transformer and, at least, hit the forward and reverse coils to see if it even works.
But I would like to know (for sure) which terminals to hit with voltage so I don't
fry what could be a working rotor
Page 36 shows a 5 connection rotor. It looks, to me, as though if I hit voltage to
Pins 2 and 3 I will get one direction, and Pins 3 and 4 will get me the other direction.
(If I'm reading it right)
I can use a 24 VAC transformer with a motor control (rheostat) connected and start
at about 15 volts and work my way up. Yes? No?

I have been cleaning the cobwebs and spider eggs out of the motor and getting
ready to wire brush, and grease the gears

Look at the schematic and you should be able to figure out which wires go where..

There has to be more than 1 person with any input on
this subject. I've tried several things including the non-
polarized capacitor with 24 volts across Pins 2 and 3
and Pins 3 and 4 and I get nothing. I took resistance
readings and pretty much get what the manual says.
I get nothing from Pin 1 to 2, 1 to 3, 1 to 4, same thing
with Pin 5. I do get some reading between 1 and 5 but
non consistent.
I still say there has to be some way to test this without
having to spend the money for a controller.
