becareful about software not written by rt systems. i have gorror stories about some of this software and radios being trashed by it.

if you ruin the radio, oh well- dont bother with repair- it will cost TOO much.

rt systems

rt system does not write all of ICOM's software. This apparenlty is the software ICOM uses with thier radios.

if it has icoms name on the disk, then it probably is from icom or rt systems.
if its free on the internet, then its probably NOT from icom.

btw, i didnt know icom was GIVING AWAY software. as far as i know, you have to PAY for it.

free is free- if it came from icoms website, then go for it!

I do know that the CS-???? series is what comes from ICOM. Distribution of the software like that is illegal. Looks like I will be programming it by hand (if a local radio deal still has one for sale and I buy it).

You might do better (and safer) to check with other V8000 users to see if someone has come up with a freeware solution. The first place to look would be the V8000 Yahoo group. I'd avoid Russian hack sites like the plague.
