I did not have a 2 mtr rig in the house so I did a little checking around and decided on a Yaesu 2900r. A nice little radio that is super easy to program, has built in weather and a back lit mic that you can enter frequencies from. 5 10 30 and 75 watts selectable. I already had a dual ban mobile and two or three dual band ht's so no need for another dual bander. Plus 440 is not so much around here. That's why I went with a single bander and the price was good enough. Plus enough power to reach out on simplex. Would suggest this radio if you think it will fill your needs.

I have the FT2600M and have been real pleased. Onr thing about running at high power, the heat sink will get quite toasty. Nice for placing your cup of coffee on to keep it warm.
