Thks for reading this post.

I have a 741 and it was a great radio.
I have used it since I started in Ham Radio and I would like to get it back to good working order.

I decided a while back to replace the batteries inside of the radio an although the process went well I find the radio is not working as well as it did.

Does anyone know of a Radio Repair House that will handle the 741 ?

Thks

Is there any reason why you have not considered sending back to Kenwood for repair?

I thought Knwood would not even consider fixing this old of a radio.
i will have to contact them and see what it might cost.

If not Kenwood I would send it to Scott Malcolm of MTS for repair.

I will contact him and talk to see what I can do.
“MTS” is the company or do you have a contact addie or number.

Thks for the idea and info.

Remember that Kenwood's repair shops in the U.S. are not owned by Kenwood. They are independent companies operating under contract with Kenwood. In my experience, they will work on anything as long as they can get parts to effect the repair.

You also might check with Cliff at Avvid. He's been hanging out in the TM742 Yahoo group lately, so I'm guessing he has some experience with these radios.

Thks for that info.
I did not know the Kenwood Service Houses were privately owned.

I have sent an e-mail to them telling them of my problem and the age/model of my radio, time will tell.

thks for replying.

Just to clarify, only the Authorized Service centers listed here are under contract to Kenwood for amateur radio repairs. You may find other independent repair shops with extensive Kenwood experience who are very qualified to work on Kenwood radios.

Your welcome - see link below for MTS repair.

MTS Ham Radio Repair

PS: Calling Kenwood should have at least been your first contact.
If they no longer service this radio they would probably advise you
of some service facilities that may help.
