Right now, I'm using a VHF Maxtrac that is in an out-building on my property that is right beside the antenna. I'm using a tone remote in my house that is about 175 or so feet away from the Maxtrac. This is a temp setup that I was going to replace with a couple of RCH3000s and an MCS2000 so I could have total control of the radio. The problem lies in the fact that I can't seem to finds the parts for the RCH3000/MCS2000 setup fast enough.
I do have an FT-7900 and a separation kit, so I thought about running it to tie me over until I do find all of the parts for the final setup.
Does anyone know the maximum distance that the head can be separated from the radio? The "manual" doesn't state anything about it and I can't find any info on the net. I have an extra CAT5 line that I can use. I don't need the speaker as I can use the tone remote for that. I just want to be able to change channels, power, etc.
