That was a pretty good radio in its day. I had another version that was full HF coverage called the Astro D with voice encryption options, which was part of the "Ambassador" system used by some US Embassy's and spooks in the 1970s. https://www.universal-radio.com/used/UD76lrg.jpg

For $35 dollars and a 5/9 report, that is now priceless. Sounds like you have a rig that is worth keeping for a long time. Congrats.

Yea, I'm gonna hang on to this for a long time.. It's more "portable" than my Icom 756 Pro II. I may even start scouring hamfest swap areas in search of the matching tuner and power supply. Would be neat to have the whole set.
