A question about power supplies

Does the noise from switching power supplies affect all bands equally or just the HF ranges?

It can vary on various bands.

Some switching power supplies are fine with no reported noise, some produce a little RFI in the HF range and it would be rare to have RFI in the VHF/UHF range.

I've not found any RFI from Astron switchers and I just got a new Powerwerx SS-30DV and it appears to be clean.

Depends on the design of the supply. Shielding, oscillator frequencies, filtering of external connections all come into play.

Like others said, modern switchers may, or may not affect HF. They do not affect VHF/UHF.

I have a new Samlex SEC1235M 30 amp switching supply to power my new Icom IC-7300 HF transceiver. It has zero noise...

I use a super heavy Astron 35 amp supply for HF. But I use lightweight switchers for my UHF radios.
