Let's get started with a broad subject: What radio(s) and bands do you currently operate while mobile?

I have an Yaesu FT-8800 dual band, with a Larsen 2M/440 antenna, A Icom 706 MkII, 80-10 Meters with an AH-4 auto tuner, a RCI-2950 with a Larsen NMO-27, and a RS Pro-2051 scanner with a MaxRad 800 antenna for around town; for road trips I replace the 800 with a RS scanner ant modified to mount on an NMO mount.

Why even have the RCI cluttering things up when you have the MkII?

i don't have anything mobile right now... but one day I'll have my FT-100, AT-100 tuner and key back in the Tahoe.

I keep it simple... Alinco DX-70T for HF 80-10, and a Motorola Spectra on UHF. The HF uses an SGC autotuner. UHF is a 6" spike. Oh... I almost forgot. The MFJ keyer for CW mobile.

i don't have anything mobile right now... but one day I'll have my FT-100, AT-100 tuner and key back in the Tahoe.

With HF propagation being what it is, I leave the HF antenna off and can work the locals on 28.350, plus on the road I can monitor both.

The rig that gets the most use is my XTL1500 VHF in both P25 and analog. I have all the local stuff in there. As a seconday radio that is a quadbander is a Yaesu FT8900 and I use that mostly for UHF, listening out of the AR band or when I'm away from home.

Lastly I also have an XTL2500 encrypted/digital remoted radio in 700/800 that is work related.

I use either my Yaesu FT-7800 dual bander or my FT-8900 Quad band mobile. Depends on where I am going and for how long. I use a Diamond dual band antenna with an NMO mount. I also can take a large selection of scanners with me, again depending on where I am going and for how long. I have a choice of my Pro-106 digital,pro-162 analog, or my ft-60 portable if I am going local. If the trip is long, I take either my 996 digital, my BCT15,BC-780,785, or pro-163. I use wideband NMO mounted antennas for that as well. Lots of fun stuff.... HF mobile has yet to catch my eye. Not knocking it at all, just isnt my thing as of now...

My FT817ND goes mobile in a snap! HVT400 on the lip mount and all is right with the world. Don't spend much time on VHF/UHF, but give me six or ten meters anytime.

I only have the ID-800H int he truck dual band D-Star for ham radio right now, maybe more later but i only drive 20 minutes a day max, so i do most communications from the house.

in the truck i have a cb, a 10 meter radioshack 10htx and im getting a kenwood v7a (its in the mail now) for some vhf/uhf goodness. The 10 meter was a radio another ham gave me but there is nothing on that band im afraid. I just keep it in the truck for when the band opens up so i can do some dx.

I love my FT-8900. 6 meter FM is great. However, there is NO SSB. This is a problem for a lot of folks. If you dont mind FM only, then with the right antenna, it is great.

My mobile has an Icom V-8000 in it with a 2 meter Cushcraft. It of course does 2 meters.

My wifes mobile has an ICOM 208H with a Diamond dual band mag mount. It does 2 and 440.

I am currently using a Icom ID-800H VHF/UHF analog/digital transceiver as the main workhorse. Antenna is a Diamond NR72BNMO.

For APRS I am using an Icom V-8000 VHF because of it's 75w output (hopefully will not fry my brain too much from all the RF radiation). TNC is a Byonics TinyTrak 4 with a Byonics GPS2 receiver on the rear deck. Antenna is a Diamond NR72BNMO.

Not amateur, but I also use a BCT-15 with RH-96. Antenna is a Larsen special tri-bander.

All of this is mounted in the trunk to make it a little bit harder for the common thief to grab it all at once.

Icom IC-706mkIIg + Hamstick antennas for HF. The removable top whip from those antenna is the right length for a 5/8 wave on 2m and screws right into the 4 magnet mount I have on the roof of the car.

Define "mobile." The OP station sounds like it might be usable when the car is parked, but nobody can/should operate all of that stuff (safely) while in motion.

I use a Yeasu VX-7R while mobile. There is a 4-band Diamond antenna mounted on the trunk lid.

Depending on my mood, it's either the MTS2000 or the XTS3000. I use a window hangar to keep the radio on.

Icom IC-706 feeding a High Sierra HS-1000 for 80-6 meters, Kenwood TM-733 dual bander into Larsen NMO-2-70 for 2 M and 70 cm. Wife' s car and company Expedition IC-208 feeding Larsen 2-70 for 2 M and 70 cm. Operate safety? QSY on the side of the road, PTT only while mobile. Oh yeah, also run Winlink 2K, PACTOR on HF while parked from laptop through an old MFJ 1278 TNC!
