problem turning off "wires" function

Hello. My grandfather just got a new Yasu Ft 60R. He needs to turn off the wires function. We looked at the manual. It just said to hit the zero button. But that didn't seem to work. Can I get some help please? Thank you.

EASY! See the button with the ATOM symbol on it? Press and the same symbol in the display will go away.

Without pressing anything else (like PTT) just tap the 0 key. When the "atom" symbol in the upper right corner of the display goes away, the WIRES system is off. Tapping 0 again will turn it on.

Don't know why Yaesu makes it so easy to enable a feature that nobody uses -- except by accident!
