help with utc time.

Im located in southern indiana (evansville area) and wondering what i should set the utc clock to. kinda confused on it. Thanks for the help

Around Evensville you are in the Central Time ZOne, unlike the majority of Indiana, which is Eastern Time. Right now that means UTC is your local time plus 5 hours (this changes with the DST switches and such, but right now 5). So take your local time and add 5 hours. If it is 1400 local, 2 PM local, then it will be 1900, 7 PM, UTC.

You're right, it can get confusing real quick! It's a matter of perspective, or view point, or what you are converting from/to. CST is UTC - 6 hours, CDST is UTC-5 hours. That's from the UTC is 'normal' view point. From the CST is 'normal' view point, then you add instead of subtracting. Even more confused? don't feel lonely, everybody is till they think it out. (Then we're only confused half the time... :))
