Correct, I got the names mixed up. Jonathan Masters was the mythical owner of the mansion that Higgins and Magnum work for.

One has to include Joe Walsh, of the Eagles and James Gang. Quite the Collins collector, I understand...Mike

The quote in my signature line is from Analog Man.

It seems so appropriate around here.

I thought Jay Leno was a HAM operator too?

I know every astronaut on the ISS is licensed HAM operator, like Chris Hadfield - http://apc-cap.ic.gc.ca/pls/apc_anon...OG&Z_CHK=57776

And let's not forget the kerfluffle that was caused when it was revealed that the late Marlon Brando was a ham, but licensed and operating under an alias, so that fans wouldn't bother him.

Comedian Garry Shandling, recently SK, also operated under a different name.

Jay Leno does not have a license. Every ISS member is required to pass their tech. license - most never use it.

Tim Allen (real name Tim Dick) got his license for a bit on his sitcom. A few of the older crew on the show hooked up a real radio on set as a prop and for fun.

Garry Shandling (RIP) had his license early in his life before his career took off, it was long expired.

Default Can't forget ol' “The Old Red Head”,

Arthur M. Godfrey, K4LIB. Remember his radio shows very well. His voice was unmistakable.

Sorry, but I could not resist upon coming across this minor error. The character's name was Robin Masters--played by John Hillerman.

I recall seeing an interview with Hillerman back on the '80s in which he mentioned an Anglophilic group had contacted him on the mistaken assumption he was actually British. If memory serves, Hillerman politely informed them he was a Texan.

I spoke to King Hussein of Jordan years ago - he had a real British upper crust accent. He asked what I did - at the time I was a teacher. I then (not realising JY1 was unusual) asked him what he did. He said "I'm a King" then the penny dropped. OOOPS!

Thanks for sharing! This is all great information about our hobby!

Knew of a guy who spoke to "First Mama" Betty Ford! He asked her why Gerry pardoned Dick. Her response was "Negative copy, some carrier chucker is stepping all over you! He must be a Democrat!!"

And in my haste I got that wrong--sort of. John Hillerman played Jonathan Q. Higgins, though the other character's name was indeed Robin Masters. However, fans of the show might recall it was strongly suggested (by Thomas Magnum) that Higgins _was_ Robin Masters.

In the last show, Higgins did indeed reveal that he was Robin Masters.

Sorry to necro-post.

I wish I could have had the chance to talk to the late King of Jordan. A true ham. He even hosted Israeli hams not long before he passed away. I truly believe he was the kind of ham we all should want to be like.
