I removed the Band Selector knob from my AOR LA-400 to clean it but cannot remember which out of the five Band Selector positions it was in. As the rotary Band Selector knob rotates continuously either clock or anti-clockwise, how can I find out so that I know that the white dot aligns spot-on to the first band selection position.

@N4GIX -- Unfortunately not. The Band Selector is a rotary dial that continuously turns in either a clock or anti-clockwise direction. There are 10 turns each way. The knob itself is secured onto the pole of the selector by a tiny grub screw -- and that pole itself doesn't have any markings. I think this will be a trial and error game for a while trying to figure out the correct refitting.
