This might help:

Original (green case)
01xxxx = AR8200 Japanese market
07xxxx = AR8200 World
55xxxx = AR8200B US blocked version

MarkII (black case)
08xxxx = AR8200 World

MarkIII (black case, MK3 printed below right of display)
05xxxx = AR8200B US blocked version
09xxxx = AR8200 World
15xxxx = AR8200U US 'Government' unblocked version
55xxxx = AR8200B US blocked version

I am thinking it is the model that is/was sold outside of the U.S. I have an original 07xxxx = AR8200 World that I bought way back in the late 90's from Canada, cell unblocked.

That makes sense. This radio is in Canada as well. So the world version doesn’t have the coverage gap in the cellular range?

And while this thread is getting some attention, what does the mkiii version have that the m2ii doesn’t? Is it just the coverage up to 3.0 ghz?
