Hello all, I have been attempting to listen for the ON0EME beacon with the DV-1 (good LN preamp and 45 element looper ant) and found recently a very annoying birdie in my receiver right on 1296.000 Is anyone else seeing a birdie there?

If I tune to 1295.999.99 it is totally gone but at 1296.000.00 it reappears and is very strong. I suspect this is one of the PLL voltage change over points. It is totally gone by 1296.000.85 in USB mode.In CW 500Hz mode I hear it at 1296.000.82 through 1296.001.38. In CW 200Hz mode it runs from 1296.000.99 through 1296.001.22.

Very annoying when looking for very weak signals around 1296.000

Thanks,
Sean

Well, I still have it here but I noticed when I add my 1296 preamp (for EME) it seems to mask the birdie. I suppose I can live with it or I may end up sending it to AOR to see if they find anything out or can maybe re-position the birdie below 1296?

I have this signal in CW only with a telescopic antenna. The signal is very small, perhaps a harmonic from the computer.

Ah, I've found it now. Only in CW mode, not present in USB or LSB. It appears only when tuned to exactly 1296.0000 MHz. Obviously and internal birdie, and mine is quite low level.
