Ok so I put in the RYCS with the Thompson Peak tower since I live in N Phoenix off of 51 and 101 area, but I never hear anything on it. I read on another forum that DPS has started using this. Just wondering if I have something wrong.

I tried putting it in, I'll listen for awhile and see if I hear anything. Unfortunately I'm not smart enough to read between the lines and I'm not sure what all to enter. It's nice when others have it right and I can copy them. :)
For example it looks like the RYCS system uses 700/800 MHz. My software asks or 700, 800, or 900. What do I put in?

On another note the RR YRCS page says 'The use of DPS on these TG's is done via simulcast with the respective UHF frequencies at this time. It is not continuously simulcasted.'

How do I interpret 'done by simulcast, not continuously simulcasted'? Maybe intermittent testing?

Somewhere in this room. Right now, you're very col
I would tell your software 700 since that's where the control channels are. I'll give it a listen tomorrow since I'm working from home and report back if anyone's on it. Last time I monitored it I did see a few talkgroups light up but I don't remember who they were and didn't pay much attention.

I use North Mtn, South Mtn, White Tanks and Thompson Pk. You'll want to use several sites, due to the fact that not every site will always carry every conversation on a TG, only those sites that a radio has affiliated to will carry that TG's conversation.

I figured that out due to real time monitoring. I also have my PSR-500 set for Multi-Site: Stationary and Check All CC: Yes. It slows down the scanning some, but I'm more likely to catch something due to the way the system is set up.

Those are the most important talkgroups for the Phoenix area. I have everything from 1000 to 1035 and 1100 to 1135, plus a Wildcard to find others.

ADOT is on the system full time. DPS seems to be on there during the rush hours, if someone turned the patch from UHF to the YRCS on, and if someone has a radio turned to one or more of their TG's. It is not a full time simulcast.

Thanks! I think im too far from S MTN to pick it up being at the 101 and 51 in N PHX. I did hear DMV enforcement for a minute though real broken up. I went ahead and put S MTN, Thompson Peak, and Whit Tanks in and checked all CC. I will see how it goes.

I got a hit of DMV Enforcement (1109) on Thompson Pk and Metro E&W Tacs (1017 & 1018) on South Mountain. Haven't caught anything on North Mountain or White Tanks yet.

According to RR's database, all their sites have a 70 mile radius coverage area. It looks like their coverage should go half way to Prescott!

South Mountain - Phoenix Site Details (Yuma Regional Communications System, (YRCS))

DPS AND ADOT are using the system full time in phx as opposed to yuma where adot has switched over but DPS has not except the CI folks for encrypted capability. YRCS claims Dist 4 will move as soon as LA Paz county is done. However..my source at DPS tells me They will likely stay on UHF and simulcast because they will never be able to afford what it would take to get YRCS statewide.

The DB has Metro East Tac, but not Metro West Tac. I can't submit anything via the mobile site that I'm limited to with my cell phone. I don't have a real computer. Someone else has to submit info. I can only post stuff here in the forums.

And be aware that the Metro East and West Tacs on UHF are frequently linked, so both will show up on one or the other YRCS TG at times.

I have picked up DPS Yuma once or twice, probably off White Tanks. (I can pick up all 4 sites from 91st and Peoria.) I believe all of YPD and YCSO are encrypted. I've also got several unknown encrypted in the 2xx and 3xx range.

For a short while last year, 1100 carried surveillance traffic. Sounded like they were watching workers compensation claimants. Some 101x and 102x TG's are also encrypted. I'm guessing DPS CID channels, but obviously that can't be confirmed.

I have found that most of my hits come off of White Tanks or South Mtn. And most of them are of AOT Alert crews working crashes. I have the DPS Patrol TGs locked out as I have a separate UHF radio programmed for DPS. I do get a few hits on the DPS CID TGs. I also get quite a bit of DMV Enforcement off of S Mtn. In fact I last Monday morning I heard a DMV unit running a plate and giving his location as a MM on I-19.
