161.265 North Valley area

When I make forays into the Arrowhead area of Peoria/Glendale/Phoenix I occasionally hear a repeater on 161.265 that I am unable to identify.

I haven't been able to determine if it is railroad related or not. I have not found any mention of it in the database or the FCC files.

Has anyone else heard this?

It's railroad channel 77/447, if that helps.

BNSF uses 160.650 (AAR 36) south of Olive Ave, 161.370 (AAR 84) north of Olive Ave, and (supposedly) 160.560 (AAR 30) on the Ennis sub west of El Mirage.

I don't know about 161.265.

BNSF also uses 160.440 at El Mirage for switching the autoracks (actually a contractor) and 161.010 for MoW in the area.

I just haven't heard enough to tell definitively whether this is rail related or not.

It could be Southwest Gas. They are licensed to that frequency for mobile use.

You mention it is a repeater. Is it a small coverage area? Maybe it is a mobile extender frequency?

Could be some sort of extender I suppose. I will keep listening for it. I never hear it out here in the hills so I assume it is someplace well east of here.
