No need to apologize man, I just knew I'd heard them say JP8 a few times when they finish refueling(since that's all I usually hear is the end lol), but I honestly didn't know if they were saying JP8 or JPA.

I just googled it, and it says that they used to use JP-4 until the mid 90's, but they switched it to JP-8, since its more stable. Here's the wiki link which is kind of interesting :

JP-8 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nice audio as usual! Thanks for posting.

First Refuel in February on AR20:
Anyone log this last night? Would have been around 8:00pm AST. Sounded like 1881...but this morning, the UK group reported a RCH 1818 landed at Mildenhall.(Typo?)
Audioboo / ETHYL-81 refuelling unknown aircraft over CYQI

I heard the tail end of it. Here's what the log shows from the box which confirms what the Mildenhall folks said.

* AE10B8 RCH1818 01-0189 C17 US - Air Force 2013/02/01 03:48:50

I've heard them mess up the flight numbers a few times, so could have just been a mistake, or maybe they were just being lazy lol.

Default Best time slot for refueling

Hi

From the UK I have been trying to hear something, by using the Globaltuners in St Margarets Bay on 341.75 and 337.4 but nothing heard; time was yesterday around 2200/2300 hours UTC.
Do you know of any better frequency and/or time slot to catch AR Traffic, thanks from Pedro

Hey Pedro, welcome to RR.com. I see this is your first post. And welcome to this thread as well.

To answer your question, there isn't an exact time slot you can listen to hear refuels, the time varies from day to day depending on when they need to refuel. It can be anytime, day or night. Some days there is no refuels, other days there can be multiple.

If you go to the Special Use Airspace website, which I'll post the link to below, you can find out when they will be using AR-20, or any other AR track in North America pretty much. If there is a scheduled refuel over NS, you will see a black line that indicates the track they use, and if you switch to the "list" tab, you can find out the estimated time of the refuel.

Send me a PM if you have any questions, or need more info.

Default Thanx for the kind words of welcome

Hi

thanks very much for your help
the website indeed looks pretty confidential, I don't think we have that level of transparency in Europe.
2 questions before I start joining with real monitoring posts

A/ the times on this site, are they in Zulu (UTC) or EST ??

B/any specific list of frequencies attached to a given AR zone ?
I got this one for NS
Primary 337.4
Secondary 339.4
Primary Alt. 305.5
Secondary Alt. 265.65
NE Track BCC 269.3
NE Track 17T 341.75
NE Track 22T 349.7
NE Exit MCC 368.5
NE Track BCC 133.45
NE Exit MCC 123.9
SW Exit MCC 266.3
SW Track GCC 247
SW Track MCC 294.5
SW Track GCC 133.55
SW GCC to MCC 133.9
SW Exit MCC 119.6

Now if I want to try my hand at a schedules refuelling in Kentucky (there's a reliable remote
receiver in Lexington), where do I pick the frequencies from ?

Many thanks

Pedro

Hey Pedro,

YW for the help, ask more questions if you have them.

The times listed on that site are ZULU(UTC) yes.

You can check the list I have at the link below, it has most of the AAR freqs for around the country, you just need to find the right one for the track in Kentucky. Also, it looks like your list for AR20 is a bit outdated/mixed up:

New England group (David Booth) stated the following:"Probably KC-130s, Raider 11-14 W bound with Santa Maria at 09:00Z"
I listened to the 'foreign' chit-chat for almost 40 minutes. Is it just me, or does it sound more Middle-Eastern than Swedish? The New England group posted a similar audio clip.

If you mean the guys I heard, they sounded very Swedish, or Norwegian to me, but then when I heard them say Swedeforce, that was kind of a give away lol.

Possible heads up guys, I have BOBBY71 & 81 on the box from this morning, maybe some more fighters transiting back home. Get your camera's ready!

Yep...that's a dead give-away. I'm no language expert for sure.

Lots of BOBBYs this morning (07:22Z to 08:28Z). BOBBY71/72, 81/82 and01 dragging some F16s back to Europe. Primary A-A for me was 373.550 and 378.200. Boom freq was 378.200. (Also reported was 391.000 & 378.8000) Even mentioned Greenwood base in their chat.

Sweet, I'll have to check my recordings when I get home later, I have a few of those freqs in the scanners, and there was something recorded I didn't get a chance to listen to yet.

Anyone have any info on what the other BOBBYs are up too?

Hilarious...obviously this seems to be common practice on these long flights.
I noticed you had the same issue with some of the transmissions as I did.
I thought I was on the wrong mode or something.
Must be nice being able to post 5 minute clips!
Thanks for posting that.
Look forward to your clips from this morning!
