Hey guys, I'm getting coms on what I have listed as 101st ARW A to A, and I just heard them mention accepting MARSA shortly.. and now I see 2 KC-135s on the box. Looks like there's gonna be some refueling.

Edit: Heard HUGE52 calling SPUR

Yeah listening from work. Can almost see the new bridge too it's so foggy.. Typically I think we've heard EDGE for E-4s, but there was a long IFR scheduled for now, so based on that, and the fact there are two KC-135s afoot, I'd guess E-4 as well. In fact might even go so far as to guess it was 73-1677 too, more often than not that's the one over us.

It was a beautiful day in YQI...but I was really busy and missed it.
SPUR62 KC-135R 58-0010 and SPUR61 KC-135R, 63-8873 refueling
HUGH52- E-4B (75-0125 - ADFEB6). Most likely the Secretary of Defense returning home.
Sounds like their Have Quick freq hopping crapped out on them. Not the 1st time I've heard that.
Some poor quality audio here: Audioboo / SPUR61/62 Refuel HUGH52 on AR-20, April 26th, 2013

343.100, emergency of some kind, headed back to Bangor, tanker asked if they had the range to get back to Ohio without tanker support. They're headed direct to KBGR though to "get these things on the ground as soon as possible". I'll have to look up what's based in Ohio for some ideas.

Hopefully someone here has a better clue than I do though. Maybe it was fighters since they were asking about having enough gas to get to OH from ME without tanker support?

I'll check my recording when I go to lunch at @ 1500Z. Thanks Darryl!
Not much to hear at my location. I heard the switch to 295.400mhz...then I lost them.
Lots of check-ins with Maniac Ops today...but all code 1.

Super! Look forward to hearing from someone who has a chance to review a time or two. I'm listening live so I have to post from memory. Between the excitement and unlocking my phone and getting sometimes details get out of whack.

Nice catch Ed.. I turned on ATC live St Johns feed later and did hear Reach 325 tanker
getting his oceanic clearences.. Not much chatter with Gander controller.
Retro 65,66 confirmed F-15E's into EGUL this morning from UK listener.
Odd they had Red Eye depot delivery flight but guess for all weather F-15E's not a problem.. They see good in the dark LOL

Thanks Mark. Appreciate the info and the RETRO numbers. I never heard a flight number. I ASSumed it would be in the 6# range considering the frequencies used.

This was a few aircraft from the 180th FW deploying to an undisclosed location for the next 60 days. A/A freqs were 248.650 and 357.100, Aux 6 and Aux 8 respectively.

Disclaimer: I know this is slightly off-topic, but it was a good article about our mid-air refueling interests.

Thanks for that great article. Gotta luv the KC-135R. "Amazingly, the Air Force keeps them at about an 80 percent mission readiness level."
I can't wait to see the Britain's new A330 tankers flying overhead ( AirTanker delivers fourth A330 Voyager tanker to UK Royal Air Force - Airforce Technology) Heck, even the Canadians have a few Airbus CC-150 Polaris tankers in use.

PlaneFinder shows a GOTO FMS flight just off the coast of NS right now SW bound. Usually this is an E-6 from what I've seen, however this time they're not broadcasting A/C type so I can't tell. Headed toward the US at any rate so I thought it mention it.

Edit: Got a pic of a C-135 type plane headed SW. there were no commercial planes showing near where he was spotted so it's a good chance it was a Mercury.

Darn...just missed it. There was a SNOOP55 in the area yesterday, I suspect that was him. He is quite high as well...FL350...but perfect spotting conditions today. Thanks for the heads up.
