I just renewed my membership for the specific purpose of downloading the archives of the Grand Rapids, MI feed from yesterday. There were multiple homicides, pursuit, SWAT Standoff, and other activities through the entire day starting at around 3:00 EDT.

The feeds are gone for everything before 9:41 PM. I now that the feed was up, and active as I was listening to it from this site. Did the Police request its removal? Is there a refund available if the archives are not available as expected?

As far as I can tell, I see all archives for yesterday.
I do not see any caps in the archives for this feed for yesterday.

I believe so Rob. Also, check the fire feed. It started broadcasting it at the 20:30 archive (about 15 min in). It has what the above feed missed when it shut down last night, including the end of the situation when shots fired were called.

This is what happened last night on that feed. It was the best feed available with the channel locked on the primary dispatch frequency. It wasn't on a tactical channel or dedicated talkgroup. This completely undermines the credibility of what Radioreference exists for. I want to know who pulled the plug, and if radioreference had anything to do with it.

Even more disturbing, is there was radio traffic after the suspect apparently shot himself that he was "walking and talking" as he was being escorted to the front porch for treatment. We would have had a better recording of this if this hadn't been taken offline, but a barely unintelligible version exists on another feed. Then suddenly, the police say he was dead by suicide.

This is why radioreference needs to have a documented emergency hosting policy to allow quick access for scanner owners to begin broadcasting new feeds immediately when stuff like this happens, in case one of the broadcasters takes their feed offline, or has a cheap/unintelligble radio.

Contact GRPD and they can supply you with the best recording possible.

I personally would have done the same thing either shut down or at least not broadcast that channel across RR which is a option now in RadioFeed.

It's upto the feed owner if they want to keep the feed going or shut it down.

The provider terminated his feed - we had nothing to do with it on our end.

It's amazing how my attitude and opinion has radically shifted on this topic in just 5 months.

I guess it takes being a feed provider and feeling the wrath of law enforcement and a guilty conscience to make a person wise up.

Just to clear it up, My scanner died so I took the feed down about 2 weeks before this event. Had to buy a new scanner and then would have gotten a $300 gift card to scanner master because of how many people listened to the feed from someone else, so lost a scanner, spent $100 to get a new one and lost the $300 gift card.
No one made me take it down so I wanted to make sure everyone knew what happened.
