It's amazing Rural fire and EMS even receive their dispatches' sometimes. A majority of the VHF pager transmitters they use (QuickCall II) are off-frequency, over/under-deviated, or poorly engineered, in the sense the SAME frequencies are re-used for neighbouring agencies, who both get dispatched to the same incident. (Capture effect of FM makes it nearly impossible to receive a dispatch when in overlapping-coverage area). All of this has verified with calibrated service monitors.

What a mess Manitoba is. The provincial government radio shop has no business maintaining public safety communications systems/networks. They do ZERO preventative maintenance.

Kind of off-topic, but it's related to the feed of the services mentioned in this thread.
