Hello all,
I recently purchased a TYT T5 UHF portable radio, which holds 16 channels and covers the UHF band (400 to 520 MHz). It looks and feels like my Baofeng and Wouxun radios and cost similarly ($28 shipped, on eB_y).
It uses the same programming cable and accessories as the Baofeng/Wouxun/Kenwood radios and looks simple to use and program. There is a scan function but no encryption. Has a wide/narrow selector in the software.
However, there is a password lock on the software. To read from or to write to the radio requires a password. I thought my Google search skills were good but I found nothing to explain this. There are other TYT radios which require passwords, but I had no success with the password 5858.
I tried to write a new password but the software complained and asked for a Checksum value. I know what checksum values are but not the specific one that answers this problem.
I have reached out to the manufacturer and the seller for more information. Once I see this resolved, I will update my post.
Anyone else have one of these?
