Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I came across the Zastone DP880 online today. It seems like a okay starter radio for DMR since the price is so low.

DP880 DMR Two Way Radio

I am, however, unable to find any information on the programming software or interface for this radio. I imagine that it can be programmed by CHIRP or another .CSV utility, like many of the cheap import radios. The connector is a mystery though, in all the pictures the accessory jack is covered by a dust shield.

Does anyone have any insight/experience programming these radios? Any more detail on the accessory jack?

The software is far more complex than FM analog radios, and not CHIRP compatible. Without software, it is almost unusable, even if it has FPP.

I have and use this radio. I have a codeplug for the Dallas / Ft Worth area that I can send you, if you want. You're probably in a different area, but you can use the contacts list and then change the repeaters and talkgroups to whatever you want.

This is a good radio, it is basically a Kirisun TP660 with a few less features. The FCC ID# on the back of the radio points to a Kirisun ID, as Zastone is owned by Kirisun. So this radio, for the price, is a fantastic deal.

Thanks
