• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Can anybody tell me if this can be done if you use the 7800 as a cross band repeater but lock out transmitter access using PL tones so it only operates in One Direction on the 2m side. Will the radio internals duplexer function driving a hundred watt amplifier or is it going to be sensitive alone this 70cm side. I have a bridgecom cross band repeater with one antenna that I'm use that a diamond duplexer that works just fine it's rated for 800 watts Bridge Commons Drive in a 200-watt Henry amp on the Troubadour side no problems with that. However I've sent the repeater and a new irlp node to be interfaced at bridgecom. So I'm using a 7800 has a one-way cross band repeat 445 750 receive 145 500 transmitted with the 7800 duplexer being built in and only having one output and receive not able to use the duplexer which feeds a diamond High Gain repeater antenna dual band. Anybody know any options.

It will not work with a duplexer because the receive and transmit both use the same SO239 port. Trying to use it that way would simply destroy the receiver...

I frequently cross-band my 7800's (both home and car) so I can use my little UHF HT around the property here, and with 45 watts it works just fine.

7800 Mobil with 2 meter amp

My question wasn't about using a duplexer. My question was has anybody ever driven in amplifier with a 7800 mobile it has a moderate 50-watt built-in duplexer. I was curious if anybody has ever driven in amp before. Very simple to lockout UHF from transmitting and it just being used as a cross band UHF and VHF out that was my question nothing to do with using the duplexer off the repeater

You've missed the point I was making.

Any amplifier must be inserted before the duplexer. You cannot do that with an internal duplexer.

[transmitter] ---------[amplifier]-----------[duplexer]-------[antenna]
[receiver]-----------------------------------------|
