• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello All

I have been enjoying my 380 and the programming for a few months and yesterday when I tried to read the radio a error box came up with "Please check whether USB cable is occupied or not connected".

I tried this on five different computers that I have used in the past 2 with Windows 7 and 3 with Windows 10. I also tried the Tytera Flash Tool V1.05 and had no luck with that one either.

My dilemma is how do I tell if it is the cable or radio that has the problem. I do not have access to another cable so is there a pin out diagram for the cable? I know that the chip is in the radio and not the cable.

Thank you and 73

The cable isnt anything but a way to hook the radio to the comp.. If there's a problem it's on either end of the cable

Double check your drivers. If set to automatically install updates, Windows has an annoying tendency to update drivers, and in my experience some of the drivers they install don't play well with the chipsets in Chinese radios/cables (or vice-versa; quite a few Chinese radios/cables use a counterfeit Prolific chipset that doesn't play well with the real Prolific drivers).

Best bet is to try the "update driver" routine with the driver disk that came with the radio/cable package.

I have been told the drivers are in the CPS program since the chip is in the radio and not the cable. I have searched for the drivers but when everything is running there is nothing showing up in device manager.

I just found a wiring diagram for the cable so I am going to see how that looks.

So I rung the cable out and continuity wise it checks out ok. USB left pin is #4. 4 to 2.5mm plug sleeve
3 to 3.5mm plug tip
2 to 2.5mm plug ring
1 not used
I do not have access to another cable so I'm going to ask around here to see if I can borrow one. Hope it is not the radio.
