• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Got one of these a few weeks ago. There are some issues, but besides these issues, the radio appears to be working OK. I have contacted Retevis support but not holding my breath to see if they will address these issues that I am personally experiencing.

1. The import function for the Priority Contact list does not work. I've been using that list for talk group ID's. I've been manually entering talk group ID's You are supposed to import a .csv file but it is not working. The normal address book will import however. Might end up using the address book for all contacts/talkgroup ID's

2. Backlight: No matter what you set the timeout for, it randomly reverts to continuous

3. When the radio is receiving a signal and you want to change channels, you have to turn the dial about one full turn to get the radio to respond that you are trying to change the channel. Works fine if the radio is not receiving a signal.

CPS used: v.1.93 GPS
Firmware: 1.4.9 GPS

1) I recall seeing something on the Ailunce Facebook page about a work-around for the import issue. I just enter them directly into Priority Contacts with no problem,

2) FYI... I'm using the same HD1 software and firmware and my backlight does not stay on longer than expected.

3) This so-called "green screen" issue is well-known and is supposedly being addressed (in turn) with other known annoyances.

Update from first post

I updated the firmware to v1.5.3 Have not checked the priority contact import that supposedly was fixed. The backlight timer issue has NOT been fixed. What happens is whatever you set the delay time to be, 5, 10, 20 seconds, etc. the backlight will behave normally, but then all of a sudden I'll notice the backlight is always on. Checking the menu, it reverts back to CONT, very annoying. Also there is a nagging problem with the rotary encoder ie. channel selector. If you turn it clockwise, there are times when the memory channel does not advance and at times appears to go backwards, same if in vfo mode, the frequency does not increase until you turn the knob repeatedly, then the frequency or memory channel will increase. This also occurs when in the menu mode. But, when you turn the knob counter clockwise, it appears to work normally. As others have mentioned, the radio has started to lock up, and the only way to clear this is to pull the battery.

I have been in contact with Retevis support, however, they are having issues understanding the problems (language barrier or ?) and they asked me to send them a video which I am waiting to see what conclusion they come up with.
I'm going to try and get it replaced. I hate to say I got a lemon, but anyone reading these posts would tend to agree.
