Exclamation FCC finally goes after Baofeng

This is the first time I have seen a company get cited by the FCC for selling Baofengs.
https://www.fcc.gov/document/amcrest-citation-and-order

Could this be the start of a bigger enforcement action?

Exclamation FCC finally goes after Baofeng

Found this interesting item in today's FCC Daily Digest:

AMCREST INDUSTRIES, LLC D/B/A BAOFENGRADIO.US CITATION AND ORDER - ILLEGAL MARKETING OF UNAUTHORIZED RADIO FREQUENCY DEVICES. Amcrest marketed the UV-5R V2+ Part 90 transceiver outside the scope of its Equipment Authorization. Action by: Chief, Spectrum Enforcement Division, Enforcement Bureau. Adopted: 2018-08-01 by Citation & Order. (DA No. 18-801). EB. DA-18-801A1.docx DA-18-801A1.pdf DA-18-801A1.txt

https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachme...-18-801A1.docx
https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/DA-18-801A1.pdf
https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/DA-18-801A1.txt

Finally some action by the FCC regarding the CCRs flooding the market.

OK so this Order only covered the 5r models--I Guess all the Other Models are in Compliance---someone must of had a big bug up the rear for this to all of a sudden come about

Its Funny that there saying interference causing equipment meanwhile 3 led sign companies were cited and basically got a slap on the wrist (fines) for there Products they knew caused rfi and Still in Use today

You can guess that if you like, but it's possible that the listed models are the only ones that the FCC has looked at in this case...so far.

Too little too late.

The FCC should be preventing this junk from getting certified in the first place. The FCC certification process is misused and abused. They pass junk that would never meet industry standards ( TIA-603D ) as long as the garbage fits within the emissions masks. That's why you see funky low deviation emission designators and radios rated at exactly 1.476548 Watts.

Look at all the EF Extended Frequency and "Part 9" certifications by these companies WTF? over.

Then the uncertified, DC to light stuff being sold as "Ham Radio" to the unwashed masses.

The FCC and US Customs are just letting any crap come in.

The company more than likely knew the whole time and figured no one would do anything. All for the almighty dollar. SMH

Sorry, apparently I didn't search enough. I didn't see the other one. The moderators can kill this thread if they like.

What feedback did you receive from the FCC after reporting what you observed?

So, these turd radios have been marketed since 2013, and the FCC slaps them with a citation, not an NAL. Does nothing for the hundreds of thousands already in the hands of consumers who are potentially misusing them.

It took 5 years (note the first complaint received by the FCC SED on 3/13/2013, over 5 YEARS AGO), and here we are, thousands of Baoturds with their bogus certifications later. So let's see who's next, AnyTone Tech...oh yeah. I'll never forget that adventure in fictional FCC OET certs.

Without an NAL, it's not a true enforcement action.

the Report is only for 1 model radio which has been out of production for a couple of years--this stems from it being on their website and was not removed

read the background in the report it sheds a little light
