• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I'm working on getting some old CB stuff of mine up and running and was wondering if there were any CB users in SE Michigan, specifically Monroe and Lenawee Counties. If there are any of you out there what channels are used most and best to listen on in the area? I know ch 19 will probably see some traffic but anything other than that?

I had also posted this in the Michigan forum and was directed to here.

Thanks much,
Clay

Yes I am, but I am in Warren Michigan / Macomb County. Channel 19 yes, channels 6, and 11 get a lot of traffic. When I was at my dad's house in St. Clair Shores by 9 mile and Harper there was almost CB activity on all channels.

I tried CB for a while. All I ever picked up was pirates on 6 and 11 and truckers on 19. I still got my handheld, gave my mobile away.

Hey Flintstone! The man who helped me out with those Media frequencies. I have a handheld I got a HAM swap, I only paid $12 for it. I also have a couple of really old mobile ones from the 70's. I am just trying to figure out a good way to get a decent antenna up at my mom's house with sticking a vertical on the Chimney. And what do you mean "pirates" on those channels?

CB pirate, someone with an illegally high powered (amplified) CB radio. They can transmit for hundreds of miles. They tend to use channels 6 ("The Super Bowl", not sure why they call it that) and 11. Has something to do with ham freqs sharing those channels I think.

Did you pick up anything on those media freqs? I just copied them from the database.
