Here is a great website that maps propogation as it is happening.

PropNET Communication Circuit Quality Report

They use PSK to map out the propogation, there are stations that monitor PSK frequencies and when they hear a station they upload the information realtime to the site and plot out the distance from the transmitting station to the recieving station. I participate as one of the monitoring stations as I have time.
