Does anybody run their scanner coax through the TV connectors on a UPS/Surge Protector? If so, is there any noticeable loss in signal? I've read that a BNC to F adapter might reduce the signal by .5 db, so that might be the minimum loss.
It depends. Never known anyone who has but that doesn't mean it won't work... But remember - components configured for TV use are 75 Ohm and if you are running 50 Ohm cable there are additional issues.
I good lightning protector is a whole lot cheaper than guiding the surge into something unsure to work that may take many other things down with it.
