So far, were 20 min into this S/F on Elliot st. Eng 23 was 1st O/S. Reported heavy smoke coming from the basement. They tried for a fast attack, but were unable to locate the stairs to the basement. Command requested them to back out, and break all windows to the basement level, and 1st floor to vent smoke/heat. After smoke cleared, units were able to make entry to the basement. They are still fighting active fire in the basement, 1st floor and basement searches are underway.
