Winter Storm Warning in effect from 9 am Thursday to 6 am MST
Friday...

The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Winter Storm
Warning for snow...which is in effect from 9 am Thursday to 6 am
MST Friday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

* Timing...snow will develop and spread southward across the Front
Range Thursday morning...and continue through Thursday night.

* Accumulation/wind...total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches
are expected...with locally heavier amounts. Wind gusts up to 25
mph will be possible Thursday with some minor blowing snow. Wind
gusts to 35 mph will to occur east of Interstate 25.

* Main impact...roads will become snowpacked and icy...and
travel may become difficult especially on secondary roads. In
addition...temperatures will turn very cold with readings
dropping below zero in most locations Thursday night.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remember...a Winter Storm Warning means hazardous winter weather
conditions are imminent or highly likely. Significant snow
accumulations are occurring or expected. Strong winds are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

This is a heck of a storm ... it came through NW Montana today and we got nailed with 30-40mph winds, complete white out, and drifts almost 6-8 feet high.

...and, our high temp tomorrow will be -3 with 20mph gusts. Dangerous ski conditions.

As Rickak mentioned lots of accidents now coming into all agencies up here in Northern Colorado.
CSP is already behind about 10 calls, lots of rollovers coming in from Weld Co, mainly out East.
Heard a 6 car pileup at I-25 and Hwy 66 near Longmont about 45 minutes ago.

I have about 3" on ground with winds 8-15 mph, some drifting, and visiblity about 1/3 of a mile.
This is all headed South!

OK, let's see if C.S.P. can get it right this storm.

Trucks with chains on and moving = Good

Trucks stuck, jack-knifed and sliding all over the highway that went right past the Trooper sitting in the car at the leading edge of the Chain up station with Netflix playing = Bad:confused:

But the rear wheel drive cruiser remains parked there for a reason they can't move!

All EMS helicopters in the state currently OOS due to weather, you don't see that very often.

Wow! That was painful to watch!

Was driving home early in the afternoon as the snow was just starting to fall but due to the cold temperatures the roads were slick already. Slow down is not something, sadly, that everyone understands.

Wind Chill Advisory in effect until 10 am MST Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Wind Chill
Advisory...which is in effect until 10 am MST Saturday.

* Wind chill values...winds up to 15 mph are expected to linger
overnight. The wind coupled with low temperatures well below
zero will produce wind chills from 15 below zero to 25 below
zero.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills. Frost bite and lead to
hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture
outdoors...make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
