The Lakewood Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance on January 7, 2011 at approximately 10:15 p.m. in the area of 1300 block of Kline St., between a male and a female involving a gun. Once officers arrived the male subject exited the residence armed with a rifle and fired upon officers, at which time officers returned fire. The subject then retreated inside the house and the female exited safely a short time after. The female did confirm there were three young children inside the house. SWAT Negotiators attempted to communicate with the subject for several hours but he did not respond.
The SWAT team was able to enter the residence at 03:40 a.m. and safely remove the children unharmed. The subject was also taken in to custody and transported to St. Anthony’s Central Hospital for injuries sustained. Identity of the subject and parties involved are not available at this time. No police officers were injured during the incident.
