The Lakewood police department is investigating a fatal accident that occurred early this afternoon in the 2300 block of Wadsworth Blvd.

At about 12:48 pm, Lakewood police agents responded to the accident scene and determined that two vehicles had been involved. Each vehicle had two occupants. Early investigation indicates that a black Dodge Neon which was northbound likely crossed into the southbound lanes and collided with a black Dodge Nitro.

All occupants were transported to an area hospital where a male party in his early twenties was pronounced dead a short time later. It is believed that none of the others involved have life threatening injuries.

The investigation will continue in an effort to determine the exact cause of the accident. Investigators must wait for test results before making a final determination on the exact cause of the accident.

The identity of the male who died will not be released until notifications to family have been made by the Coroner’s Office.
