Castle Rock Fire and Rescue (Castle Rock, CO) responded to a fully invovled structure fire on Saddle Back Road in Castle Rock, CO, early Saturday morning, with an initial dispatch at 357am. The structure was under construction and in the frame stage allowing for the fire to rapdily spread. Initial units quickly contained the fire, however, the structure fire also started a wildland fire. The wildland fire quickly spread to the northeast as gusty winds of 15-25mph helped push the fire. Wildland units from Larkspur, Franktown, Parker, and South Metro also responded to assist Castle Rock wildland units that were fighting the fire. The fire burned east to Founders Parkway where the fire was held. Two piles of landscape mulch materials to the east of Founders Parkway were also found to be burning, and a front end loader from the Town of Castle Rock responded to spread the mulch so Castle Rock firefighters could extinquish the fire. Units continued to extinquish hot spots in the wildland fire zone as of 11am (time of this email). The cause of the structure fire is under investigation.
