The Denver Sheriff's Department is sporting new blue duds today for the first time in 40 years.
Gone are the pink gabardine pants and navy blue shirt, in are the navy blue trousers and dress shirt, thick soled shiny black shoes and a new black, trooper-style hat. A large silver sheriff's badge — a five pointed star encircled in a ring, reminiscent of the Old West — is positioned on the deputies left chest.
"You guys look gooood, " said Maj. Gary Wilson.
The change in uniform style will help to convey unity, power, authority, dignity, pride and respect of the department, Wilson said. Deputies began wearing the uniforms today.
