Another CSP Question

Is there is system for the assignment of the "Car" numbers of the CSP vehicles? For instance, is one type of vehicle in a block with others of its type, or are they all assigned somewhat randomly as they are put into service? (I know its on the license plate.)

Short version: Can you tell what kind of vehicle is in use by the "Car" number, other than already knowing that special troops have special vehicles?

There's really no order, about the only thing you can differentiate is a series of cars by model year or make off the number sequence but that's about it
