I just got me a new scanner PRO-96 and i was woundering if mabey someone could help me get it programed so i can listen to Commerce City Area. I have a few frequncy's for commerce city i just need to know what else i have to add so i can listen in mabey like a trunk list or more freq's. i dont have. The pic below is how i have it set up now through win96 but i think i am still not picking up the right freq's for commerce city i think i am getting other counties still. Because mine was first programmed from radio shack with scancat lite and so i just took commerce city freq. and put it at the top on a new page and then copied all the CSP freqs and pasted them in the new page and then uploaded them to the scanner. thank you for your help

Well first off I wouldn't let RadioCrap...I mean RadioShack program anything. I don't know where they get their information but it is garbage.

Here is the info you will need to program it yourself (http://radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=329) you will page down to Adams County and program in the "Talkgroups" that you desire. If you only want to listen to Commerce City then you will need to program in all the desired TG's and then put it into closed mode (Func+5). This will ensure you only hear what you have programmed. Otherwise you will hear everything on that tower unless you have the TG locked out

Next you only need to program in the control channel that covers your area the best. I am not sure exactly what one would be the best where you are at, but someone will be able to help down your way with that. I would try out a few of the mountain top CC's like Lookout Mountain 868.775 or Mount Thorodin 868.975. However I'm sure there is a site that is "in town" that would suit you better

Also there are a couple of P96 files for Win96 that are available online that others have made you could try out. I can't remember where I got some of them, but www.Radiohacker.com has one that works great. If you are a donating member to Radio Reference you can also import frequency information to Win96.

Good luck, I am sure others will give input as well on this

Wow your information you gave me was exellent thank you so much. I understand alot about this now, but i have a question i am not sure if you have use the progame win96 but ok the link you gave me i scrolled down to adams county and there isnt any freq's. listed now is there something else i have to do to add the Commerce city car to car one or the other 2 that are listed. these are from the link you provided ok say i wanted to use the CC Lookout Mountain 868.775 with win96 i would put that up at the top but how do i program in these
17 011 D Commerce City Police Channel-1
18 012 D Commerce City Police Channel-2 (Car to Car)
19 013 D Commerce City Police Channel-3
is there a differnt way of putting these in because they dont have freq's. thats were i kind of get confused. Thanks so much

If you have Lookout Mountain programmed into, say Bank 0, then you want to hit (PGM+Trunk) and type in your individual Talkgroups just like you would a frequency.

So like CCPD Channel -1 is TG 17, so just type in 17 enter and if you want you can add text tag to it by pressing (Text) and inputing whatever you want it to say. Again if you only want to hear CCPD though you need to have all of their TG's programmed in and have the scanner in closed mode (Func+5). The Lookout tower is going to have just about every metro agency on there so if you don't close it you will hear all them too

Since you have Win96 I would consider using this great p96 file and load it into your scanner http://www.radiohacker.com/scanlist/MetroTrunked100205.p96

Additional Info

I just thought I would give you some more info on your programming setup....

The frequency 460.425 (CLEER) is a statewide channel, primarily used on the front range for different agencies (dispatchers) to talk to each other, now with little usage. I don't know how RadioCrap had that listed as Commerce City?

Also again all those frequecies that you have there are not all control channels. Most of them are voice channels. To listen to the DTRS all you need is the control channel programmed and the TG's.

I would take all that info from the Radioshack, erase it and start fresh....

Wow what radio shack can I take my Pro-96's too for such wonderful programming of the DTRS? Holy cow..

It's a wonder the media assignment desks are constantly calling with programming questions.

I was under the impression that "The Shack" gets their info from this website.

When they tried to program mine-before I grew a brain-they used Scan-lite. They might be smart to start useing this website. That's just me though.

ha.. some of that could be true...

Kevin another thing that I noticed from your configuration on Win96 on the box that says CONV it should say MOT. It looks like Radioshack is just having you scan all those P25 frequecies without any information, like TG and text being displayed.... Maybe I should start my own programming business and charge $50 per hour, lol......

Most RadioShacks do use Scancat to program radios in the store. The software goes online and downloads a database by county.

LoL i was thinking the same thing i am going to forget anything they told me the only right thing they told me was to use win-96 and its been great so i dont have to go talk to them anymore lol. I see how i have to switch to MOT not they just had it scanning everything and everywere they didnt care how it was setup they just wanted me to leave after buying know that there was some convo. going on so i thought it was all ready to go probully so i wouldnt say shoot i want my money back lol. I been playing with it a little more. i am going to take a screen shot of how i have it now i am not getting the right CC to connect to exactly commerce city but i am still trying differnt CC's. Now when you put in a CC dose the CC have other things going on as well as the local area i am trying to get or will it just go to Commerce city because i have them in a tag. thanks for everyones input on things you all been really helpful.

For Commerce City best bets are to use Lookout 868.775 or Thorodin 868.975. Forget DRDC they block everyone except state TG's.

Yes some sites block TG's due to capacity limits.

Kevin,

Come to the next "Meet" on June 4th. In less than a minute, you can have anything and everything that you ever wanted programmed in your radio.

No charge :)

Kevin in that second picture it looks like you have it set up just fine to listen to CCPD. However, you need to check the "Closed" box in order to only hear CCPD. Or without Win96 (Func+5)
