Denver Evacuation

Monitoring an evacuation of an apartment building reported at 800 Pennsylvania due to asbestos contamination.

Per KUSA, evac began at 8am this morning and continues. Also reported evacuees are being taken to West High School that has been setup by the Red Cross.

9news reporting there was a fire at this building last week and now the asbestos levels are not safe for humans.

Just overheard that signs are being put up now regarding the evacuations and no - unauthorized entry into the building.

Health Dept reports the asbestos level is 10 times the acceptable level. Also stating it could be weeks before residents are allowed back to their homes.

Echo command just advised any of the residents who want to return to collect their belongings tomorrow will have to be escorted.

Escort times will be posted and transportation back to the apt building has not been arranged yet.
