So for each DTRS site, are ther certain agencies specific ONLY to that site? Say for instance there are 4-5 different sites in the same wide area vicinity (Northern Colorado for example), does each agency only utilize one site for operation? Or can units use different sites and maintain the same talkgroups/agency affiliation while traveling through different site coverage areas? For example, would Loveland Fire be able to utilize other sites such as Horsetooth Mtn. rather than using the Downtown Loveland site?

Thanks to anyone in advance for their answers!

Would suggest you go thru the forum messages archives as this topic has been covered many times but in direct response yes Loveland Fire can affilate with any DTRS tower in the state with the exception of the ones they are locked out of which only occures with a few sites in the Denver Metro Area see a thread on that topic also so if LFD firefighter was attending training in Durango or assisting with the search and rescues in Holly he could affiate with the local tower(s) and/or talk back to his dispatch center.

A big advantage to having the EOC in the Denver area, at least one radio is set to the important TG's in SE Colorado and those radios are affliated with Chevron site.

Inside of the circuit....
DTRS is technically a SmartZone system - as is the El Paso County/Colorado Springs system. They are not called SmartZone systems, but their operation is very much similar. The old El Paso County/Colorado Springs system was a "traditional" SmartZone system. Buckley AFB, Eagle County, Florence FCI, Fort Carson Army Base, Holy Cross Energy, Excel Energy, and on....are all SmartZone systems.
