I've put all 24 channels into my Pro-97 - all in their own bank, starting with channel 01, all channels set to EDACS --- I keep hearing the beep tones after a transmission on a channel. I'm located on the very eastern edge of Arvada and have only had the chance to take it to the northern part of Denver along I-70 and driven down to Golden on I-70, but have yet to receive a clear trunking transmission without the beep tones.

Is my signal just too weak in those areas? Would the RS 800mhz antenna help? I'm using an Austin Condor on it right now.

EDACs beeps

Simple check- is each channel mode set to EDACS?
Have you set the trunking mode to EDACS? (this is a different setting from channel mode)

The trunking setting was a problem I had when I was learning to receive EDACS.

EDACs

I agree completely with NWOU. Make sure that when your programming a EDACs system to not only put all channels in logical order, but make sure the scanner is set to ED (not fm ct mo dc ltr)

The reason you're receiving the "beeps" is because the scanner is receiving the truncking system conventionally (fm mode).

Also make sure the talkgroups you want to listen to are programmed in.

Frequencies - Talkgroups = conventional scanning.
